Many other mobile-game teams fear that if players are given the option to gain free rewards from advertisements, players will spend less in the game and it will cannibalize in app purchases (IAP). Well after collaborating with Tapjoy, we say the opposite.
In our case study, we found that more purchases come from players engaged with rewarded advertizing than the overall Fresh Deck Poker population, because these advertisements allow players to get familiarized with premium options, level-ups, and ads. We also found that players stick around longer and are very active in game!
